AFWall+ is a free and open-source Android firewall that you can download here. It gives you the ability to choose which applications are able to connect to the Internet and how they do so. AFWall+ is available for download from Google Play for users of Android. When you run AFWall+ for the first time, it will prompt you to log in using the root account. You do not have a functioning firewall if you do not have root access.

Apps connected to the Internet have a name on the right and an icon on the left. There are gaps in the columns in the middle of the table. Connections via LAN, Wi-Fi, and mobile phones are shown in the list by default. It gives you the ability to pick and choose which app connections you want to use.

The first step is to configure AFWall+. To access the main menu, click the icon with three dots in the upper right corner of the screen. Next, select Preferences from the menu that appears.

The drop-down menus will display applications that fall into the core, system, and user categories. Choose to display the app’s UID by selecting the Show app UID option. If you select “Confirm AFWall+ to disable,” you will be prompted to create a security alert in the event that AFWall+ is not currently active.
