Season 5 of Ice Scream 5 Friends shows the aftermath of Mike’s friends getting free from the cage run by Rod. Here we see the group getting Rod to transport them all back to his ice cream factory with a few setbacks. Players get to play as Mike and explore the factory in and out in search of his friends. This is a first-person experience to show how players are in a mountain of industrial settings and are getting all the suspense. With the players in a large area, it is a stealth game based on Mike trying to rescue his friends, and the game is mainly based around avoiding detection. This is because players can’t eliminate Ice cream threat players, and to survive the game players need to hide. Players stealthily avoid the threats and hide in the environments to complete the objective.

The factory has room after room of things to collect, all linked together by a big factory map. One of the hard parts of the game is finding the things you need to solve all of the puzzles. There is a big part of the map that doesn’t have anything in it that players can view and it contains a lot of hints to help players solve the puzzles. The factory is full of bad guys and if players get caught by the bad guys, the bad guys will chase players. The game is about being stealthy and players have to listen carefully and learn the patterns of bad guys to get to the next room and clear it.

An important mechanical addition in this installment of the game is the ability to control multiple characters. Player progression through the factory eventually leads to the discovery of a specific room that allows players to contact their friend, J. This room functions as a hub and allows the player to switch control between Mike and J. Each character has unique advantages which can help the player resolve certain in-world problems. This can lead to more work being done but also more strategies and methods for distraction and/or solving puzzles. This game is focused heavily on cooperation, as players must coordinate the actions of both characters to explore and progress the story beyond certain areas while avoiding the presence of Rod. The ability to switch between characters is a strategic mechanic and can be used to buy the player more time from being chased or while trying to progress to an area of the map controlled by another character. This room serves as the most crucial location for the objective given its purpose during the mission.

The factory os covered by Rod and now also includes “mini-Rods,” enemies that roam the area and identify targets, reporting back to the main antagonist. While mini-Rods don’t capture the player, their detection broadcast Rod to come to the player’s location within only a few seconds. To deal with this threat, the player has to use special items. One of these items, the electrogun that is only found in J’s room, can disable enemies for a short time giving you a chance to run or possibly do what you were planning. Engaging in this challenge with the enemy while defending yourself requires you to electively sacrifice other items in your inventory. Playing the game allows you to learn the balance that this challenge requires, from stealth to the very limited but important defensive items, to relying on Mike and J to get the tools that can free your friends and defeat Rod.
