About My Diary
My Diary is designed to be a lifestyle tool to help its users cultivate a creative documentation of their daily lives. The app is equipped with a number of functions to help users capture and embellish their entries. The interface is designed to have an intuitve create button to facilitate quick entry. When a user starts a new entry, a preset date is populated in the entry area. The user has the ability to edit the timeframe of the entry to further organize and secure it in the users history. This focus on organizing history is supported by a dual entry system where a user can summarize their thoughts in a phrase and then use the following line to capture as much detail as they wish. By organizing information this way, My Diary ensures that a user’s history remains a relaxing and enjoyable environment, and not a cluttered and overwhelming list of details.
My Diary has emotional tracking built into its note taking process. Before any text is typed, the user is asked to select a mood from a preset list. Every entry has this mood metadata associated with it. Users can search this emotional history at any time by keyword. In addition to mood tracking as a feature of each entry, the app provides a mood tracking dashboard. Like the entry dashboard, this mood tracking dashboard provides a visual representation of trends and averages of the users moods for the month. This dashboard also incorporates any moods associated with entry dashboard data to provide a more holistic view of emotional trends. The app provides a connection between daily journaling and emotional awareness to give users the ability to catch negative trends before they become problematic and serve as a reminder to engage in emotional replenishing self care activities or social activities.
The way users can illustrate their entries using different types of media and stylistic elements is another area where the application nurtures users’ creativity. The software understands that an extensive record should be more than a simple text record. Because of this, it provides users with the opportunity to seamlessly embed pictures to illustrate important events and/or ideas. This aspect of the app supports people who prefer an auditory record to document something that is spoken. The app also gives users the ability to embed an audio file to any entry. Users also have visual customization features at their disposal. Users are allowed to change the color and style of the typed text and incorporate a number of stylish stickers, including drawn illustrations and emoticons. Users’ desire for an overall colorful look to their diary entries is met with a variety of colors for the background and the interface as well.
This app is very organized, which is made easier with the use of tags and a calendar view. Notes are organized with tags to represent the subject, person, or event. The tags, along with the topic line, make the search function very effective. The calendar view reflects the system calendar on the device and shows the user their notes associated with the day. The calendar view serves multiple functions. First, it provides an excellent way for the user to stay organized and be sure no important element of their diary is left out. Second, the calendar view serves to provide the user a way to easily navigate to any previous date and be able to access how they were feeling on that day and what they were up to. Ultimately, the calendar function provides a great way to navigate to any previous date to see how the user was feeling and what they did that day.
To provide security and the ability to freely move data, we’ve added advanced privacy settings and flexible export functions. Because a diary is often a private record of sensitive information, the application provides a password protection feature to further secure access to diary entries. Users can setup a password of their choice, and are also asked to create a security question, which they will use to recover their password if they happen to forget it. This gives the users full control over their password and the security of the information. To make info. shareable or back up the info in the application, users can export notes in other formats. Users can export their diary entries in txt or pdf formats. The application also provides a way to easily share notes with friends. The exported txt or pdf files can also be used to create a report.
