With Jin Kazama in control of the Mishima Zaibatsu the world has tipped upside down, and chaos is eminent. With only the G Corporation opposing Jin and his power, chaos is sure to ensue. In order to settle things, a new tournament will be held to determine the outcome and dominance of the world.

The addition of the Rage and Bound systems has changed the combat mechanics drastically. The Rage system rewards aggressive play by powerfully punishing the player as their health gets low. Because of the Rage system, players must strategically use their combos and be aware of their surroundings thanks to the Bound system. If an opponent is slammed into the ground, a player can keep attacking and dealing extra damage, thus resetting the timer for the opponent to guard, giving the player an extra advantage. The complimentary nature of the Rage and Bound systems creates a tense yet active combat system that has players thinking strategically on how to take down their opponent.

Away from the fighting arenas, players can also personalize their character by equipping various articles of clothing and accessories in the store. Players can also destroy the environment by crashing through walls and floors to gain a strategic edge or to simply reach a new area. Since the arenas are fully destructible, players can use the environment to their advantage to attack or stop their opponent. The interactivity of the environment forces players to think deeply about combat and positioning as the edges of the environment aren’t always flat.

Scenario Campaign Mode merges elements of the brawler and Tekken fighting styles. This mode adds a campaign to the game, and offers players an opportunity to expand on the narrative of the tournament. This mode breaks away from the traditional one-on-one fights of Tekken to add the ability to fight multiple enemies like a brawler. While doing this, the mode helps to deepen the lore of the Mishima family through additions to the single player campaign.

The developers worked to improve the frame rate to a consistent 60FPS to mitigate input lag during this build. The developers stuck with the traditional four button control scheme of previous games to provide players the ability to control each of their character’s limbs independently. Using this system, players have the ability to execute over 100 attacks per fighter. Players also gain the ability to negate attacks with the Low Parry, and use the Wall Pressure system to crush opponents against walls, limiting their movement.
